Automatic Carton Folding Gluing Machine Common Troubleshooting Guide

Automatic carton folding gluing machines are prone to common malfunctions during long-term, high-intensity operation, such as poor adhesion, paper jams, and glue overflow. If not addressed promptly, these malfunctions can lead to production stoppages and increased losses. This article summarizes several common malfunctions of fully automatic carton gluing machines and corresponding troubleshooting solutions.

I. Malfunction 1: Cartons are not firmly glued and easily crack.

Causes:

1. Inappropriate glue selection, incompatible with cardboard material;

2. Glue solids content too low, resulting in insufficient adhesion;

3. Insufficient or uneven pressure in the pressing mechanism;

4. Pressing time too short, allowing the glue to fully cure.

Troubleshooting and Resolution:

1. Use fast-drying cornstarch adhesive for corrugated cardboard, ensuring the adhesive is compatible with the material.

2. Check the solids content of the adhesive and adjust it to 18%-22%. If the solids content is insufficient, add concentrated adhesive to thicken it.

3. Check the pressure of the pressing rollers and adjust the pressure evenly using the pressure regulating valve to ensure consistent pressure on the cardboard bonding surface. Replace worn rollers if necessary.

4. Appropriately reduce the production speed and extend the pressing time to 3-5 seconds to ensure the adhesive fully cures.

II. Fault Two: Paper Jamming and Skewing During Conveying

Causes:

1. Improper adjustment of the guide plate spacing, too wide or too narrow;

2. Wear and paper debris on the surface of the conveyor rollers, resulting in insufficient friction;

3. Abnormal moisture content of the cardboard, causing warping and deformation;

4. Mismatch between the speed of the paper feeding mechanism and the speed of subsequent processes.

Troubleshooting and Solutions:

1. Adjust the guide plate spacing according to the cardboard thickness, leaving 0.5-1mm of play to ensure smooth passage of the cardboard without deviation;

2. Clean the surface of the conveyor rollers with detergent to remove paper scraps and glue residue, and replace them promptly if severely worn;

3. Let the cardboard rest in the workshop for 24 hours beforehand to balance the moisture content, and remove warped or deformed cardboard;

4. Adjust the speed parameters of the automatic carton folding gluing machine to ensure that the paper feeding mechanism is coordinated with the gluing and pressing processes.

III. Fault 3: Glue Overflow, Contaminating the Carton Surface

Causes:

1. Excessive gap between gluing rollers, resulting in excessive glue output;

2. Glue viscosity is too low, causing excessive fluidity;

3. Uneven cardboard edges cause glue application misalignment; 4. The automatic carton folding gluing machine is running too fast, preventing glue from penetrating in time before entering the pressing process.

Troubleshooting and solutions:

1. Adjust the gap of the glue applicator rollers to 0.1-0.2mm to precisely match the thickness of the cardboard and reduce excess glue application;

2. Add glue thickener to adjust the viscosity, or replace with glue of suitable viscosity;

3. Trim the edges of the cardboard in advance to remove burrs and flash, ensuring accurate glue application;

4. Appropriately reduce the production speed of the automatic carton folding gluing machine to allow sufficient glue penetration time and avoid overflow and contamination.
